In Guild Wars 2 one of the most interesting and complex classes is the Mesmer. The Mesmer class is a master of illusion and mirage. This class uses mental magic to control and confuse their enemies. Although the class is both interesting and complex it can also be a hard class to play if you don’t take the time to understand how to play the Mesmer. Soon as I saw the description for this class I knew that this was the class for me. I’ve played an Enchanter on Everquest for many years witch is a lot like the Mesmer in many ways. I was pumped to see another game pick up a class that utilizes illusion and mind control to defeat it’s enemies.
My favorite skill type of the Mesmer is by the illusions. These illusions are basically representations of yourself. You can have up to 3 illusions running at the same time. This makes it very hard, especially in a pvp situation for your opponent to know witch of the representations are you and witch are actually illusions. There are actually two types of illusions. First is the clone. The clone looks exactly how you look, having the same name, clothing, and weapons. The second is phantasms. Phantasms have the same appearance as well but have their own behavior and attributes.
Mesmer can use a verity of weapons. Two- handed greatswords and staffs., scepters, swords, focus, pistols, torches, spears and tridents.
My favorite weapon combination thus far is the two-handed greatsword and staff.
The Mesmer is defiantly not for everyone. If you want to play something easy and not so complicated then I would stay clear of the Mesmer but if you want something with great power and diversity then the Mesmer will be the class of your dreams.
